How the Scholarship Helped My Family
I have received the Hughes Memorial Foundation Scholarship for the past three years. This scholarship has helped my family and me tremendously. It is almost hard to put into words how much it means to me. When I first applied for this scholarship, my family was going through some difficult financial times. We were living in the basement of my grand parent's house and were concerned about how in the world we were going to pay for my college tuition. However, my mom was very on top of things and got me to apply for scholarships, including this one.
When I found out I received this scholarship, it felt like a weight had been lifted off of our shoulders. I never knew I could be filled with so much gratitude towards people I didn't even know. This year my family has had to face some more very hard times, emotionally and financially, due to my younger brother having two major spinal surgeries. Just knowing that my college expenses are not an extra burden on my parents makes me feel relieved.
And I have the Hughes Memorial Foundation to thank for that. Each year that I have received this scholarship I have felt blessed all over again. I strive to do my best in my college studies so that I can make this foundation proud, and it is a great feeling to know that there are people out there cheering me on and supporting me in my endeavors. It is unbelievable how much a scholarship can impact a student's life, and thankfully the Hughes Memorial Foundation has impacted mine over and over again.
Pursuing My Dream
The Hughes Memorial Foundation Scholarship has been more than a help to me in my endeavors. It has provided a source of motivation to me to be able to pursuit my dream. It has given me a sense of determination, letting me know that I can not give up no matter what. I am more than grateful for the help and support of Hughes Memorial Foundation. With the extra assistance, I am able to persevere through an obstacle which hinders many people from pursuing a higher education.
